As a Sierra Leonean immigrant, I have lived in the Elephant and Castle for forty years and blessed with three beautiful daughters Adama, Nafissah and Khadijah Munu. The original Shopping Center will always remain in our heart as the epitome of a genuine community facility. It took generations to build a Community whilst it will only take a so-called regeneration to destroy such an historical community facility the community has depended and appreciated for generations. I was personally and directly involved as an active community leader in the original regeneration of the Elephant and Castle including my beloved Rockingham Estate in 1997. Hence, my memory of the Shopping Center will always be shopping and taking my two years old daughter, Adama Juldeh Munu regularly visiting Uncle Kelvin Bangura, window shopping and Adama to play.
